Receiving Automated Group Text Messages
Some Tribal programs are administered using text messaging, including automated group text messaging applications such as Textline. Text messages are used to support program benefits, respond to member inquiries, and facilitate convenient communication between UAIC staff and tribal members.
Tribal members who are eligible for one of these programs will receive an initial text message asking if they would like to receive automated group text messages from the Tribe. Tribal members must opt in to receive additional text messages. If members do not opt in, they will not receive additional text messages for the program.
Choosing not to opt in, however, may impact their ability to receive program benefits.
Some programs are administered using different lines. Tribal members who are eligible for more than one program will receive an initial text message for each. Tribal members must opt in each time to receive text messages from a new line.
Text Message Costs
Standard message and data rates apply to automated group text messages and message frequency will vary depending on the characteristics of the Tribal program. If tribal members have questions about their text or data plan, they should contact their wireless provider.
Opting Out of Text Messages
Tribal members can opt out of receiving automated group text messages at any time by responding “STOP” to any text message from the Tribe. Texting “STOP” will only unsubscribe the member from the line they sent the message to. Tribal members must text “STOP” to each line that they wish to unsubscribe from.
After a tribal member opts out from a particular line, a final text message will be sent to confirm that the member has been unsubscribed. After this, the tribal member will no longer receive automated group text messages from the Tribe on that line. Tribal members who want to receive text messages after unsubscribing, will need to sign up again.
Text Message Privacy
The Tribe uses tribal member names and telephone numbers for the purpose of delivering the requested text messages.
The Tribe does not share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for any purpose, including, but not limited to, marketing and promotions. Each tribal member’s opt-in data and consent—records confirming a member’s agreement to receive text messages from the Tribe—are used solely to deliver the messages they request and will not be shared with third parties except as necessary to provide the messages or to comply with legal requests or requirements.
